Vintage Chic Clipboard

Need something pretty to write on?!When you sit down to write a card or note, isn't it always nice to have something pretty and lady like to write it on?! We think so, and decided to makeover a thrift store find, wood clipboard into something more vintage chic!

Materials for this project:
Wood clipboard. Scrapbook paper {we used 1 12x12 sheet and 1/2 of another 12x12 sheet}. Extra scrapbook paper if you would like to cover the backside of the board also. {We used plain black card stock paper for the backside}. Lace. Hot glue. Mod Podge. Scissor. Fancy writing pen. Ribbon.

Directions:
Lay your 12x12 scrapbook paper on the front of the clipboard to get an idea of how it will fit and how much you will need to cut from the other sheet to cover then entire front of the board. We allowed for enough to wrap around the edges, with a little hang over on the backside. Cut out the pieces you will need for covering the rest of the front of the board. Using hot glue or Mod Podge apply scrapbook paper onto the front side of the board. {I had my son help me when it came time to lay paper down up at the top where the clip is.
He held it open so I would not get my fingers pinched.}
Once you have all the board covered with scrapbook paper you are ready to move on to embellishing with lace.

Cut your lace the width of the clip with some extra to roll and tuck under the clip. I applied one piece and decided it needed a second one.

Cover the backside of the board with your paper using hot glue or Mod Podge. This really gives the board  a nice finished look. The picture I took was not post worthy, therefore no example.

Using your ribbon thread it through the hole of the board clip. Thread the ribbon through the pen clip. Tie the ribbon you threaded through board clip. Now, get ready to so some writing!

The art of sending handwritten letters, notes and cards should not be forgotten. We think it is important to pass this on down to our children. Just like we need to teach them to tie shoes and learn to tell time the old school ways! {Using shoelaces and a clock with a numbered face not digital!}
We hope we have inspired you to sit down and write a handwritten letter or note to someone special on your new vintage chic clipboard!
Remember, keep it Homespun!

even his prayers are detestable.
