Vintage Chic Jars

Vintage Chic Jars!
Do you want to add a little vintage shabby chic to your
surroundings, but not sure where to begin?! We decided it was time to try a few of the ideas we have been seeing around blog land and make a project, shabby chic style! We knew we would start off with a small project and see how that went. We love the idea of the chalkboard paint, and had never tried it, and we love the look of painted jars. So.....we put a couple ideas together and came up with these vintage shabby chic jars!

Decide what types of jar(s) and color spray paint you will use. You will need: chalk board spray paint, lace, flower embellishment or something more to your liking. Hot glue. Painters tape. Lunch sac{preferably a white one}.Chalk.

Lay down news paper to protect the area you will be working in. Turn your jars over and place on the news paper. Shake up your spray paint real well. Apply a coat of spray paint to the jars. Allow to dry and apply another coat. Apply another coat if needed. Make sure your jars are good and dry before proceeding on to the next step.

Tape off the area in which you  want the chalkboard surface on your freshly painted jar.Once complete, open open the lunch sack and place the jar inside. Wrap the sack around the mouth of the jar to protect it from the chalk board paint. Feel around on the front of the jar where the tape is and begin tearing the bag open just to expose the part of the jar you want to become a chalkboard surface and not beyond your tape.

Read the directions on the chalkboard spray paint can for best application results.

This is how ours came out even with taping the area off. Some paint managed to get through. For our next project with chalkboard paint I think we will try the brush on type.Once your jar(s) are dry, begin to embellish them.

We spray painted a  silver Dollar Tree tray we had black.

Don't forget to write a little message on your jars fur family! We are really impressed with how well the chalkboard paint works. The chalk went on smoothly and was removed just as well!

Now if you happen to have some cutting flowers out in your garden, run out and pick a bouquet for your jars! If not, that's okay too, you can pick some up later or use silk flowers.

And there you have it! Our shabby chic spray painted chalkboard mason jars!
We hope we have inspired you!
