Salad In A Jar

Make it fun and they will eat it! Not referring to the ants, although it is true,  but if we make our food a little more fun for the kids, it might be easier to get them to eat it! You probably recognize these fun little ants from our Picnic Utensil Basket post. Well, we brought them back, they are just so much fun! Time to make our salad.

What you need to do:
Instead of making your salad in a bowl, you are making it in a mason jar.
Simply begin layering in your salad veggies.
Lay down some lettuce and then layer in your vegetables.
Heavier vegetables to the bottom so they won't weigh down the salad and take away from the eye appeal.

Seal up the jar by placing the lid on, than a cute napkin and than the jar ring.
Secure a fork by making a small slit in the napkin.
Keep your dressing sepaerate.

Just one last look at the basket!
We used this during our Father's Day picnic.
Be inspired to make some fun food this summer and hopefully those good eating habits will continue on!
Remember, keep it Homespun!

The righteous hate what is false,
but the wicked bring shame and disgrace.

  12. I saw your link on the Weekend Wrap Up and was intrigued. Excellent idea. Also, those napkins you decorated the jars with are terrific, I need to find it! I recently found fabric with the same print and made a bowling shirt out of it.

  18. Totally adorable! I love the idea of everything for a picnic being individually wrapped (I always forget serving utensils!) - especially if it's in something reusable!
