Summer Fun:{Water Play-Date}

What to do when the sun doesn't shine!
Getting together with family and friends over the summer for play dates
are one of the things we look forward to doing.
Even when the California weather does not want to warm up,
 and the sun doesn't shine,
we can still find a happy ending!

This summer we hosted a "water play date", however the weather was less than cooperative and it was not warm enough {here in California!} to have an actual "water" play date out doors. Not to worry, with some quick thinking we moved the party in doors and all was well. Here are a few pictures from our "water-less" water play date:

                                              Variety of water toys
                                               Dollar Tree water rockets, balls, guns and  bath puffs!
                                               Homemade sponge water balls.

                      Gotta have a beach ball at a water play date!

Sand buckets filled with treats and used as favors.
We cut out each child's initial in vinyl using our cricut and applied to the front of each bucket.
From the Dollar Tree we found:
Buckets. Summer themed cookies on a stick. Pinwheels. Assorted toys.

Lunch time
Kids love easy finger foods {and so do moms!}
We served up pigs in a blanket, strawberries, chips and assorted veggies.

Fun Snack
Colorful goldfish crackers
Berry Kix cereal

                                                                  Beverages
                                          Roaring Waters juice, iced tea and good old H20!

                                                                  Dessert
                                             Fish Jello.
                           Using blueberry flavored Jello, we added Red Fish candy to the Jello.
                            Stuck in a parasol pick and the kids loved these!

Making lasting memories for our kids is such an important thing for us to do.
We don't need buckets of money, or fancy homes or a perfect hot summer day
 to host a fun little play date.
What we do from the heart means more than anything money can buy.
We hope you are inspired to plan a little play date and keep adding to those childhood memories!
Remember, keep it Homespun!

and of your praises all day long.

And now that I read that you're from California (my home state) I thought you might find it interesting that I have the most readers from California (over any other place in the world) which I thought is pretty interesting!
