Recipe Wednesday:{Harvest Cereal Treats}

Brown Rice Crispy Treats. Here is a good way to add in some whole grain goodness into your traditional rice crispy treats recipe, and no one will be the wiser! We all know by now how important it is to be eating whole grains in our diets, preferably daily. Finding ways to get them into our diets sometimes falls flat. Especially when it comes to sweets. By simply swapping out the white rice cereal for the healthier brown rice cereal you keep all the taste of the original recipe but you have added a health benefit in the making! Come check it out.

We used this brand of brown rice cereal found at Costco. We like that it is organic, low fat, gluten free non GMO and the company has been around since 1966.

Using the traditional recipe we made a batch and spread them out in our Pampered Chef Large Bar Pan,{love that thing}to cool and set up. Once they were cool, we used a leaf and a pumpkin cookie cutter to cut out seasonal shapes. Here they are prior to being dressed up a little,

With the left over scraps we took a smaller pumpkin cutter and made some minis.

 We melted some candy melts and drizzled it on and added a few sprinkles to some.

So the next time cereal treats are the favored choice, remember to use the brown rice cereal and give your treats a little health boost! Remember, keep it Homespun!
