Dollar Store Christmas Candles

Working A Little Magic! Recently, we worked a little magic on some Dollar Tree tall jar candles to make them more Christmas pretty! The Dollar Store is a great resource for providing a fairly good foundation on which to build and be creative without having to go too deep into the pocket. The quality of some of the merchandise has really improved we have noticed. But for a dollar, you pick and choose. And we chose these candles wot work a little Christmas magic on!

We started with three glass Dollar Tree candles. The quality of the candle in the jar is not like that of a "candle store" or more expensive candle. We say that because you can see where the poured wax pulled away from the jar in some spots and not others. But for a dollar, and since we are decorating the outside of the candle jar, we could live with it.

We had some left over rub on decal words from our Thanksgiving project and decided to use them. Other embellishments we used that were on hand were, pipe cleaner, ribbon, pom pom, jingle bell and Mod Podge.

First we cleaned the outside on the jar well so the decals would stick.

We chose our word decals and placed them on the jar with the backing on to make sure we liked the position. Than we removed the protective backing, and taped the decal, gently on the candle to help it not move as we rubbed on the decal.

Once the decals were applied we applied a thin coat of Mod Podge over the decal to keep it from being rubbed or chipped off during using the candle.

We applied our embellishments around the top of the candle using a glue gun where needed to keep things in place. That's it.

These candles would make festive Christmas candles for your home or party, or they would be well received Christmas gifts too!

Once the candle has burned down, these can easily be recycled in to another candle or vase.

So hurry on over to your Dollar Tree and stock up on some candles!  Work some of your Christmas craft magic on them and watch them take on a whole new life! Be inspired!

                                                   nor His delight in the legs of a man;

  3. You know, I just love dollar store crafting! There's something about having to use your imagination more to turn what once was overlooked into a must have item. These candles are just too cute and I have some random rub ons that I still haven't found a use for yet so I might just have to try this. :) I like the idea of using the modge podge right over the decals to keep them intact. I was wondering how I'd keep them from getting all chipped up. Thank you so much for sharing!

  9. Great look ... I looked at those candles the other day and did not know what to do with them. Not pretty as is. This is a beautiful way to make them look expensive.
