Kool-Aid Colored Eggs

A new use for something old

We love coloring Easter eggs. We had every good intention of coloring our eggs this year with natural dye from various vegetables and spices, however, we will have to wait until next Easter for that. It just did not come to pass. Still wanting to dye our eggs in a fun different way, we were happy when we came across the idea of using Kool-Aid from Hey Jen Renee

Thankfully we had some Kool-Aid packets and some knock off  packets from the dollar tree in the cupboard. We don't drink Kool-Aid, we keep it around for making play dough and now possibly for coloring Easter eggs!

To one packet of Kool-Aid add 2/3 cup tap water. No vinegar is needed. Mix. Start coloring your eggs!

The army green looking egg above came out of a purple cup???? And although some of the colors look the same once on the egg, they were initially all different colors. {Refer to the cups above you saw all mixed up.} Leaving the eggs in the dye less time or more time makes a difference in the end result.

So we just kept on coloring and before long the Kool-Aid colored eggs began to grow on us a little bit more than in the beginning.

But than we looked at the array of eggs and knew we needed to do something more...

So got out the blue and green food coloring, dropped a few drops in a plastic cup, added a bit of vinegar and water and colored a few eggs  that way! That little bit of color really made us happy!

Our little tulip dessert cups, with a little paper shred, make great little resting places for our  newly colored eggs.

So their you have it. Kool-Aid colored Easter eggs. If you still need to get some eggs colored and have some Kool-Aid in the house, maybe you would like to give egg coloring this way a try this Easter! Be inspired. Get creative!

And a flattering mouth works ruin.
