Red, White & Blue Decorative Cans

Recycle, reuse, create

We introduced you to our decorative Fourth of July cans on our Fourth of July Mantel post, and today we want to give you a closer look with the hopes of inspiring you to recycle, reuse and create with some of the cans you have in your stash.

It dose not get much simpler than wrapping some festive pattern paper around some recycled cans to make some decorations for the Fourth of July or any time for that matter!

Start with what ever size and type of cans you have and spray paint them.
We choose black.

Next, download and print off your Fourth of July clip art. We found these from Martha Stewart and used them other than she used them in her crafts. Instead of permanently affixing the clip art to the can, we just used tape, since we are always interchanging our pieces with each other.

We filled our eagle decorative cans with patriotic cones that we stuffed with gift bag filler and American flag toothpicks to get a real festive look. The cones are simple to make. just download, print, cut., roll and glue or tape together. We found the American flags last year in the grocery store and bag filler at dollar tree.

To make these little cans you will need soup or bean cans. Simply wrap the pattern paper around the can and tape or glue. We used two different patterns.

Click on the link below to get your download.

We filled our little cans with homemade "sparklers" made by twisting around our finger a pipe cleaner. We used metallic and flat pipe cleaners for interest.

In our stash we found a couple of foam stars that we taped onto a skewer and added to the little can.

For our third black can we decorated it with an American flag and filled it with filler, American flag picks and medallion.

If you would like the medallion or flag, click on the links below.

Now it is time to put some of those cans you have to good use decorating for the Fourth of July celebration coming up!
Be inspired. Get creative!

The plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty,
But those of everyone who is hasty, surely to poverty.
