Home Decor: Quotes For the Soul

Good things to meditate on

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Philippians 4:8

We think it is pretty important to have as much positive influence around our family as possible. This being people and things we can set our eyes and minds upon. There are many thoughts on positive thinking.....what you think you become and so forth.

Since we are a Christian family, we want to meditate on the things of God.
Thankfully, we found several printable quotes to use in our decor that really make an impact on our family and hopefully, those who visit our home.

The Lord shall preserve you from all evil;

The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in
From this time forth, and even forevermore.

Home Decor: Easy Washi Tape Letter

We have a letter for you!

So happy you decided to stop by and visit us today! Are you looking for another use for your Washi tape? We thought it would be interesting to decorate a wood letter with some Washi tape. Since we had plenty of Washi tape left over from our Washi tape cans, we decided to keep with that color scheme since the letter was for decor in our kitchen nook/study area.

Easy DIY Beach Jars

Simple diy project

We had a lot of fun making up these easy beach jars as part of our Beach Theme Mantel. We can't always get to the beach as much as we would like to, so these beach jars give us a little shot of the beach every time we see them.

Summer Sun Catchers

Let the sunshine in!

We have a a really simple, green project for you to do with the kids today! Have you saved some clear plastic lids and just been waiting for an idea to use them with?! Make some summer sun catchers to hang in your windows like we did here. Not only are you doing a "green" thing, but you are spending quality time with the kids, teaching creative expression and bring a little beauty into your home environment!

Beach Theme Mantel

A time of reflection...

Where do you go when you need a little time of reflection and soul searching? I love the beach. The water, the sand and the shells, But most of all I love the way it makes me feel when I sit in the sand at look out across the water and see how it goes on seemingly forever. It reminds me that whatever trials I am going through in life I am not alone and that God is with me through it all, and He is bigger, greater than anything.

Gracious is the Lord, and righteous;
Yes, our God is merciful.
The Lord preserves the simple;
I was brought low, and He saved me.
Return to your rest, O my soul,
For the Lord has dealt bountifully with you.
Psalm 116:5-7

Buttons & Ribbons Summer Flip Flops

Fancied up summer flip flops!

Turn an okay pair of flip flops into something more YOU this summer! Do you ever just want to add a little extra something to that, say, purse, belt or in this case... summer flip flops!
Well we did, and that is what we did!

Never overlook Targets dollar section. At our local Target, and possibly all Targets, they have strategically located the dollar section right at the entrance of the store so you have to go past it when you walk in.

So with our Target flip flops in hand, this is what we did.

Fun Idea:Star Ice Molds For Summer

Twinkle, twinkle little star...

Stay cool and be a "star" this summer with a star ice cube stick! Here is another fun stick idea  to try out. We came across these at Target and honestly, fell in love with them. So many ways to use them went racing through our heads!

Since it is summertime and we want to stay cool and hydrated, we went with something light and refreshing for our first use. But we suspect there may be something with chocolate in the near future!

Recipe Wednesday: Agave Lemonade

Pucker up!

Who doesn't love lemon! Lemon scent, lemon flavor or just the Creator's perfect design of the lemon.

The lemon is the most widely used citrus fruit worldwide! It is the perfect package from it's looks, it's taste and health, healing and household cleaning benefits.

We know summertime is lemonade drinking time, and if you have never made your own homemade lemonade, before you reach for the unhealthy store bought lemonades, why not give this simple and healthy recipe a try this summer!

Porch Appeal: Printable No Soliciting Sign

Say "no thank you" nice and pretty!

We finally did it. We finally had to put a "no soliciting" sign on our porch, near the doorbell. We have been getting a lot of solicitors at our house lately and, frankly, it has become annoying. Sorry if you happen to have a job that calls for door to door production, but we have had enough.

We love the free printable sign we found over at Anything But Perfect! It really gets the message across in a nice and pretty way don't you think?

Mixing it up in the kitchen!

Hi their! Thank you for joining us here today! By the title one might assume we are doing some baking or cooking today. Hate to disappoint you, but we are not.

What we are mixing up are some design styles. We have taken two of the design styles we like, vintage and modern, and married them together in our own little way to brighten up our kitchen with what we call, vintage and modern kitchen art.

Above the fruited plain!

Kids: Summer Reading Space Bookmarks

Make your own fun bookmarks!

We are blessed to have a son who started reading at a very early age and continues to love to read. Having a fun bookmark to mark your spot or just to take a few minutes and play with in between chapters can make reading fun!!!

This activity is super quick and easy and even boys will take an interest in it!

Boys: Colored Rice Sensory Play Tray

Boy play time

We hope you are having a fun summer so far and finding lots of activities and adventures along the way for the kids and for yourself! Today we would like to share with you one of our kids activities we specifically set up for older boys. Older boys meaning nine years old.

While it is fairly easy to find or make up activities for younger children, boys in particular, it is not always true for boys of this age. It is sad to think that video games for this age range is all they want to do ....if.... we let them.

Sensory play tubs or trays are not just for the young child. Older children, and even adults like to put their hands in the tub or tray filled with whatever it might be and explore!

Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord,
At the presence of the God of Jacob,
Who turned the rock into a pool of water,
The flint into a fountain of waters.
