Recipe Wednesday: Agave Lemonade

Pucker up!

Who doesn't love lemon! Lemon scent, lemon flavor or just the Creator's perfect design of the lemon.

 The lemon is the most widely used citrus fruit worldwide! It is the perfect package from it's looks, it's taste and health, healing and household cleaning benefits.

We know summertime is lemonade drinking time, and if you have never made your own homemade lemonade, before you reach for the unhealthy store bought lemonades, why not give this simple and healthy recipe a try this summer!

This recipe is from our wonderful "Babycakes" vegan cookbook.

Agave Lemonade Recipe

14 Lemons
4 1/2 cups filtered water
3/4  cup Agave nectar {if not familiar with agave, start with less and add more}
5 cups of ice

Wash lemons and set two aside. Cut twelve lemons in half and juice.
Fill 6 glasses three-quarters full of ice and set aside. In a large pitcher, combine lemon juice, water and agave nectar stir until completely combined. Pour lemonade over ice. Cut into wedges the two lemons set aside earlier and garnish drinking glasses, serve.

If you decide not to serve right away, omit the steps in the recipe for preparing the drinking glasses, and instead, place the lemonade pitcher in the refrigerator to chill for awhile before serving.
If you prefer another type of natural sweetener to sweeten the lemonade recipe give that a try.

You know how we love serving food and drinks in mason jars, and serving lemonade in mason jars just screams SUMMERTIME doesn't it!

And making the mason jar a little prettier is not hard at all. Just cut out a cute piece of scrap book paper to fit the inner ring of the jar. Place it inside the ring. Cut a little slit for the straw and done!

A pitcher full a tasty, healthy lemonade on a hot summer day is wonderful to share with family and friends.

We hope you will give this recipe a try and let us know what you think!
Be inspired. Get creative!

Through wisdom a house is built,
And by understanding it is established;
By knowledge the rooms are filled
With all precious and pleasant riches.

  1. I would love it, if you would share this, & any other recipes you may have, on my recipe link up.

  2. This looks wonderful- I love that it doesn't have all that sugar. I haven't used agave nectar before, though- what is the measurement for it in this recipe?

  3. That looks so refreshing and I LOVE the mason jar!
