Candle Advent Wreath

Something to look forward to. We came across a lovely post on advent over at Cranberry Morning and a beautiful vintage advent wreath Judy made which inspired us to make our own.

Please stop by Cranberry Morning for a look. In the mean time here is a wonderful description from Judy about Advent.

Advent, as it refers to the Christian calendar, means the four weeks before Christmas when we set aside a time to focus on the promise, given so long ago, of a Redeemer. Every Sunday in December leading up to Christmas one of the four candles are lit and the fifth red one is lit on Christmas Eve and on Christmas, all candles can be lit.

December 2 - The First Candle: The Candle of Promise
December 9 - The Second Candle: God's Unspeakable Love
December 16 - The Third Candle: Awe and Wonder at God Incarnate
December 23 - The Fourth Candle: The JOY that is ours in Jesus Christ
December 24 - The Middle Candle: The candle we light on Christmas Eve - The Candle of Faith. {Source}

What we used to make our candle Advent Wreath:

Thrift store find white tureen which we have had for several years and really like it for this purpose.
White serving platter. Dollar store red Christmas balls.

Greenery. We used a combination of fake snowy white greenery and real greens of pine and some rosemary. {it smells divine!}
Four white taper candles and one red taper candle.

How we put the candle Advent wreath together:

We started with the tureen on the platter. We arranged the greens as we liked them adding more in the bottom where the candles will be to help support them and keep them standing up.

Next we stuck the four white candles in more towards the edge of the tureen and the red candle in the middle.

Last, we placed on the Christmas balls all around the platter and love how they look!

Love the different textures of the balls, pearl-like, shimmer sparkle and bright and shiny.

Advent begins today and tonight our family will light the first Advent candle and have a family devotional time using these materials from A Holy Experience. Do you have an Advent activity planned?

Wishing you all a joyous beginning of Advent and the hope of promises fulfilled.

Be inspired, get creative!

Much less lying lips to a prince.
