Vanilla Ginger Ale Syrup

Something sweet and spicy.  If you like the spicy taste of ginger and the sweet taste of vanilla, chances are you will love them combined in to a vanilla ginger ale syrup!

We shared with you our post on Homemade Ginger Syrup some time ago and the recipe is the same here with the exception of the added vanilla. And what a marriage these two make if we do say so ourselves!

                     Vanilla Ginger Ale Syrup Recipe

Ingredients:

Fresh ginger root. 1 large, peeled and sliced thinly.

Whole bean vanilla pod. 1 split and insides scraped out and saved with the pod.

Filtered water. 4 cups

Directions:

Place water, ginger and vanilla pod and inside scrapings of vanilla bean in a medium sized pot of the stove. Put lid on the pot.

Bring to a gentle boil. Turn off the heat and allow to steep for as no less than 1 1/2 hours. The longer it steeps the more flavor develops.

Strain through cheese cloth or fine strainer in to a jar or bottle and store in refrigerator up to two weeks.

Shake gently before using.

To make a glass of Vanilla Ginger Ale:

Place ice cubes in the glass. Add as much vanilla ginger syrup as desired. {start with less and add more if needed}.

Fill the rest of the glass with sparkling water.

Sweetened with a liquid sweetener of choice. {we have only used Agave to sweeten our drink and can not vouch for the end result of any other type of sweetener}.

The natural color is amazing and the fragrant vanilla mixed with the ginger is nature at its best.

It is always fun to sip a yummy drink like this with a straw. It seems to make it that much more special.

And since it is the month of Valentine love, what better than a paper straw with red hearts!

Forget about the unhealthy soda and keep this around for the family in its place. Try experimenting with other flavor combinations too!

Why not make an extra bottle or two to give away this Valentine's Day? Enjoy!

The righteous man walks in his integrity;
His children are blessed after him.
