Pie Crust Valentine Cookies

 Who doesn't love pie crust?!

Sometimes the crust is the best part of the pie!!!

Wanting to make Valentine cookies,  but we also wanted to try something different.

So why not pie crust Valentine cookies!

We found this set of four Valentine cookie cutters at the craft store for the occasion.
Two ruffled edge cutters and two straight edge cutters.

We had in the freezer a pre made pie crust from the grocery store and used it to make our cookies.

Once the pie crust was thawed we pre heated the oven to 400 degrees and mixed up a cinnamon and sugar {Xylitol} mixture to sprinkle on the cookies prior to baking.

We carefully unrolled the pie crust and began cutting out hearts.

We brushed the cut outs with a little melted butter and than sprinkled on the cinnamon sugar and baked the hearts in the oven about 15 minutes.

The cookies came out a little dark, but not burned but that did not affect the taste!

                                              They taste great!!!

We got to thinking looking at the different sizes of the heart cookie cutters, that sometimes that is how the human heart is... either really big and loving and giving... sometimes somewhere in between needs a little help...and than that time when it is closed off and only HE can get through.

Funny how these cookies look as though they are a sandwich cookie with a filling in the middle.

Cinnamon and sugar, an old fashioned, never out of style cookie flavor.

Tie up a sweet little bundle and put them in your children's and husbands bag lunch for a nice little surprise.

How big is your heart today?

The hearing ear and the seeing eye,
The Lord has made them both.

Proverbs 20:12
