Healthy Living/ 3 Helpful Aromatherapy Recipes

Aromatherapy: a form of alternative medicine that uses volatile plant materials, known as essential oils, and other aromatic compounds for the purpose of altering a persons mind, mood, cognitive function or health. {source}

 In aromatherapy, essential oils are rarely used in their original concentrated form but are taken via a carrier substance into the body. Carrier substance can be oil,water, vegetable oils and creams, etc. The fragrance of essential oils are either inhaled directly or externally applied.
Today we are working with inhalation, while these recipes are perfectly fine and safe for application on the skin provided you have done a patch test first for allergic reaction.

We have made up three, useful, aromatherapy recipes to use in fighting germs, creating a relaxing sleep and a sensual body mist.
If you are ready to make some of your own potions, lets get started!

We begun our aromatherapy recipe making by using essential oils from Plant Therapy. We are not being paid or compensated by Plant therapy for this post. We offer this information because we use the product and want others to know about it.

In this selection of essential oils there are Synergy Blends which means, when essential oils are carefully blended their individual properties can be greatly enhanced. The synergy between the oils becomes much more powerful than the individual oils.

We used the Plant Therapy synergy blends of Germ Fighter, Tranquil and Sensual, and added additional oils to make our special personalized blend.

                                               Base Recipe
4 oz. glass mist bottle {bought our here}
Distilled water {enough to fill most of the bottle. Leave room at top for additional ingredients}
Witch Hazel or Vodka {you will only need a table spoon or so}
Pure essential oils {blends and or single oils}

The essential oils in the Germ Fighter Synergy Blend from Plant Therapy  are:
Lemon. Clove. Eucalyptus. Cinnamon. Rosemary
To this we added extra Cinnamon Bark essential oil to the blend.

                                                                              Germ Fighter Recipe

Using the Base Recipe above, and adjusting it to fit the bottle size of your choice, carefully add to the Base Recipe, 20-30 drops of Plant Therapy Germ Fighter Synergy Blend. 10 drops Cinnamon Bark essential oil. Gently shake. Prior to each use, gently shake and spritz. We added additional Cinnamon Bark essential oil because of the wonderful smell and because...

Cinnamon Bark Essential Oil is highly respected as having antiseptic properties. Some material indicates that it is perfect in topical applications, and with its pleasant scent, a perfect additive to creams, lotions, and soaps. 

Use this spritz to help fight off germs in the home by spritzing in the air, on bed linens, and on the soles of your feet.

The essential oils in the plant Therapy Sensual Synergy Blend are:
Ylang-Ylang. Patchouli. Orange Sweet. Lavender. Sandalwood. Jasmine.
To this we added additional Sandalwood, Ylang-Ylang and Clary Sage.

                                                             Sensual Body Mist Recipe
Using the Base Recipe above, and adjusting it to fit the bottle size of your choice, carefully add to the Base Recipe, 25 drops of Plant Therapy Sensual Synergy Blend, 1 drop Clary Sage, 2 drops Ylang-Ylang and 10 drops Sandalwood. Gently shake. Prior to each use gently shake and spritz. Spritz this on after bath or shower, use on sheets and as a room spray. The scent of sandalwood is lovely and the addition of it adds aphrodisiac properties.

Sandalwood Australian Essential Oil has a sweet, rich, woody, exotic and lingering. It is oriental, luxurious, and balsamic with deep & soft aroma.

The essential oils in Plant Therapy Relax Synergy Blend are:
Lavender. Marjoram. Patchouli. Mandarin. Geranium. Chamomile.To this we added additional Lavender oil.

                                      Relax Sleep Tight Recipe
Using the Base Recipe above, and adjusting it to fit the bottle size of your choice, carefully add to the Base Recipe, 25-30 drops Plant Therapy Relax Synergy Blend and 10 drops of Lavender Oil. Gently shake. Prior to using gently shake and spritz. Spritz this on bedding, around the room where you sleep on yourself.
