diy/ Easy Chair Reupholster

Do you have some chairs in need of a face lift?

Maybe you don't have the money to take them to a professional upholstery shop and want to tackle it yourself?

Maybe you are a little nervous, but excited about doing it yourself and want a quick and easy way to do it?

Well, all of that was us recently. Until we took a leap of faith and just did it.

While doing our research on "How To Upholster Dining Room Chairs", we found, what for us, {hopefully you too}, was the quickest and easiest demonstration on chair upholstering. We found the "how to" video at "HowdineGuru".

Super simple direction and not complicated at all.

We searched for some fabric locally, but did not find what we liked so we went online and found what we liked and the price was much better also. In case you are interested, we shopped for fabric here.

We purchased fabric {6 yards}, 1 upholstery staple gun and 1 box of extra staples  for a total price of $111.50 including tax, shipping and handling. Pretty good right?

Embarrassing, but here are the chair cushions to be covered. We had a chair pad on these chairs temporarily to hide their ugliness. Following the HowdiniGuru video above we cut out our fabric for each chair.

This is our chosen fabric. Love the neutral  earth tones. It goes really well with our paint colors and other decor pieces.

We ended up cutting one yard of fabric per chair, which was more than needed. Needless to say, we have enough left over for pillow making and a table runner. and

After cutting your fabric to the size of your cushion with about 2-3 inches hang over, start in the front stapling  move to the back and than the sides.

Love this staple gun. Careful not to pinch your fingers in the process.

Here is how the first, diy upholstering of a chair turned out! It looks so much better. We love it!!!

So check out the video above for all the details and for understanding just how simple it really is to do if you never have done this before, like us. The hardest part just might be picking out the upholstery fabric!

The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.
