Homemade Hot Chocolate Sticks /gluten dairy free

Oh for the love of chocolate and loving it even more on a stick!!! Our Hot Chocolate Sticks, {with marshmallows too!}, are dairy and gluten free and are perfect for this time of year.

As if a mug of hot chocolate was not a splurge in and of itself, but how much fun is it going to be to have a hot chocolate stick for the kids and turn up the fun, way up!

Hot Chocolate Sticks With Marshmallows Recipe

  • 3½ tablespoons 100% dark, unsweetened chocolate
  • 2½ tablespoons cacao butter
  • 2 tablespoons raw coconut palm sugar
  • 1 tablespoon raw honey
  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla, ground
  • 1 teaspoon ground coffee
  • pinch of salt
  • Gluten free, vegan marshmallows
  1. melt the chocolate and cacao butter in a bowl over simmering water (double boiler)
  2. whisk in the coconut palm sugar, honey, ground vanilla, ground coffee and salt until well combined
  3. pour chocolate into silicone ice cube trays and refrigerate until chocolate is set around the edges, then insert a wooden stick in the center. Keep chocolate refrigerated until it has harden completely before removing it from the mold.
  4. heat 1 cup of your favorite milk and then swirl the chocolate around. The chocolate may take a few minutes to dissolve completely.
Recipe makes 3 squares. Keep refrigerated.
*Additions we made: used organic unsweetened coca powder for the 100% dark chocolate called for. used organic coffee flavored oil in place of ground coffee. added marshmallows to the stick.

Just so you know, depending on how sweet and depth of flavor you like, you may want to go for two hot chocolate sticks per mug. Start out with one and add another if that is how you roll.

Just warm your favorite milk, {we happen to prefer an nondairy milk like coconut or almond milk}, and pop a hot chocolate stick {or two} in your mug and get to swirling!

You can make just hot chocolate blocks without the stick for a little diversity. Don't forget to include some of these on your next hot chocolate bar!

Cozy up with your favorite blanket, book, people and pet and enjoy a hot chocolate stick or two.

Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification.
