Happy Summer Watermelon Play Dough

A few weeks ago we had the honor and pleasure of being asked back again as Summer Camp Counselors at Design Dazzles 2014 Summer Camp Series and shared this fun kids activity... Watermelon Play Dough!

We hope you are in the mood for a mouth watering good time today because we are going to share it with all of you today!

Eating watermelon any other time of the year other than Summertime just looses something. But eating watermelon in the Summer sure makes one happy!

And although you may be tempted to eat this yummy smelling watermelon play dough, please let the little ones know this watermelon is not okay to eat.

Watermelon Play Dough Recipe

1 cup flour
1/2 cup salt
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 tablespoon cream of tarter
1 cup water
Watermelon extract or watermelon fragrance oil (this is the oil we used. We prefer oil.)
food coloring (just add until you get the desired color)

• mix all of the ingredients  together in a sauce pan except for the watermelon extract/oil.
• place on medium high heat on the stove
• stir frequently until the dough starts pulling away from the sides of the pan.
• remove from the stove.
• let dough cool enough to handle, then knead the dough, adding several drops of  watermelon extract/oil.
• place it in an airtight container.

Should keep for up to one month.

On a hot Summer cold watermelon balls are sure to bring some happy Summer faces!

And a ice cold slice or two of watermelon never did you wrong either!

Just don't swallow the seeds!

Want to make someone else happy this Summer, match up a big enough batch of dough and share it with friends!

We adore these Happy Summer watermelon tags from

So until next time friends...HAPPY SUMMER!

By the grace given me I say to everyone of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you.
