Nativity Trees

"Joy To The World". For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6

We celebrate the Christmas season with awe, wonder and joy, at the miracle birth of the Lord Jesus. This Christmas we wanted to add another Nativity scene to our Christmas decorations and wanted it to be entirely handmade by ourselves. We did not want to buy a pre-made Nativity. So this is what we came up with.

We found paper mache or cardboard trees at the craft store and spray painted them with Krylon's 18 Karat gold spray paint.

Once they were dry we sprayed over the gold with Krylon's glitter spray in green to give a tree like look.

We let them get good and try before decorating them.

We found some cool vintage scrap book embellishments we fell in love with and used them to decorate one of the three trees.

We took some green string we had and starting at the tip of the tree, we glued it on spiraling it down around the cone to make it look tree like.

Here is a look at some of the scrap book embellishment's on the tree.

We love that the layering was all done for us. All we had to do was to remove the covering on the back and stick it on. They have not come off once.

Every Christmas tree needs an angle or star on top. We have both!

We used more of the string on the other trees in the same manner as above. The Graphics Fairy always comes through with really perfect vintage images.

We applied the images with a glue gun.

And for the finishing touch, while at the craft store in the miniature section, we found the perfect starts for tree toppers. We poked a little hole in the tip top of the tree and inserted the star.

We love the way these Nativity Tree Cones turned out. Yet another reminder of what Christmas is really all about.

Our hope is that this Christmas you and your family will be filled with the Hope, the Peace and the Joy of the new born King.
"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses it's
saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good
for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men".
            Matthew 5:13
